Satguru Maharaj Ji speaks on 2019 elections, INEC, Buhari

The founder of One Love Family, Satguru Maharaj Ji has declared that the sum of 242 billion Naira as the amount being proposed by President Muhammadu Buhari to fund the 2019 general elections was not too much to fund the elections in a country like Nigeria.  Maharaj Ji who berated individuals and groups who making negative comments on the forthcoming elections said that contrary to their opinions, many would be surprised that the general elections would be free, fair and successful.  He spoke while addressing journalists on the state of the nation at a press conference held at Satguru Maharaj Ji village, Ibadan, the Oyo state capital on Friday. UNIZIK students protest death of final-year colleague, accuse varsity’s medical centre of negligence

Students of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka have protested the death of one of their colleagues, Mr Francis Mmadubuobi, a final-year student of Department of Applied Microbiology and Brewing.  The students alleged that lack of medical facilities in the school’s hospital contributed to the death of Mmadubuobi.  The deceased student was said to have been taken to the institution’s medical center after he collapsed on the pitch while playing basketball with his colleagues last weekend within the premises of the university, but allegedly died as a result of lack of attention.  The students, while protesting over circumstances surrounding his death, called on the management to immediately equip the school’s medical center or scrap it entirely.  They matched in their thousands from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University to Arroma junction in Awka, a journey of over four kilometers, carrying placards with various inscriptions some of which read; “Un...

JAMB remits N7.8bn to FG from 2018 UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board says it has remitted another N7.8 billion to the Federal Government. The board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, made this known to the  News Agency of Nigeria  on Sunday in Lagos. According to him, the board has planned to remit the amount as surplus to the Federal Government as was done in 2017. Benjamin said that the amount was the surplus generated from the conduct of the board’s 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). “However, government in its magnanimity, graciously directed that we remit about N5.6 billion and use the balance for restructuring of the board’s headquarters to meet up with its international status. “We, therefore, want to appreciate the governing board of JAMB led by Dr Emmanuel Ndukwe for the tremendous support in ensuring that the current administration’s vision of transparency and accountability as fully embraced by JAMB is sustained. “The Ndukw...
