Buhari signs Polytechnic amendment, another bill into law

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday in Abuja signed into law the Federal Polytechnics Amendment bill and the National Institute for Security Studies bill. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives),  Alhaji Umar El-Yakub disclosed this when he addressed State House Correspondents on Tuesday. According to him, the new Act on Federal Polytechnics now pegs the tenure of Rectors of Federal Polytechnics at single five-year tenure.  He said: “The Federal Polytechnics Amendment Bill sought to amend the Federal Polytechnics Act of 2004, whereby there were amendments to several sections of that Act.  “This includes the tenure of the Rectors, which has now been harmonised to five-year single tenure and whereby a Rector is currently serving the old four-year tenure, he/she will have an additional year to make it five.  “The amended Act now stipulates that the Polytechnics will now have Governing Cou...

Jeorge Stinney, the youngest boy to be executed in an electric chair

  Jeorge stinney Jr of African descendant, he was the youngest to sentence to in the 20th century in America.  He was only 14 years old when he was executed in an electric Chair.  During his trial he always carried a Bible in his hands claiming his innocence.  He was accused of killing two white girls, 11 year old Betty and Mary of 7,  The bodies were found near the house of the boy in which he lived with his parents. At that time, all members of the jury were whites. The trial lasted for 2 hours only and the sentence was dictated 10 minutes later.  The boy's parents were threatened and prevented from being present in the court room, and subsequently expelled from that city. Buhari wins seven states, Atiku four, PDP rejects results

INEC continues announcement of results today As of the time of filing this report, INEC had announced the result in 10 states and the Federal Capital Territory. The states are Ondo, Ekiti, Gombe, Kwara, Kogi, Yobe, Abia, Osun, Nasarawa, Ebonyi, Enugu and the Federal Capital Territory. The results were announced by the returning officers of the states at the National Collation Centre in Abuja. The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, President Muhammadu Buhari, won in Ekiti, Nasarawa, Yobe, Kwara, Kogi and Gombe, while his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, won in Ondo, Abia, Ebonyi and the FCT. However, some results declared by collation officers in states which have not been taken to the national collation centre in Abuja reveal that Buhari is in strong lead. INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu The Independent National Electoral Commission has decided to shift Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections till next week 23 February. It was one of the decisions reached early today in a crunch talk between INEC chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu and 12 national commissioners in Abuja, according to sources close to the meeting. The meeting, which began Friday evening, was still in progress up till 1.30 a.m.
